I was deeply moved and troubled by the death of 26 year old Neda Agha Soltan, who was shot to death during the massive democratic demonstrations in Iran. Songwriters often write about their own experience and mine was a broken heart as I watched the tragic video of an innocent life coming to an end on the other side of the world.

Inspired by the tragedy, I wrote this song and immediately tried to record it. After dozens of flubbed takes, this is what I got on camera, just a few days after her death. I've since been rehearsing it and feel a lot more comfortable with this song itself. 

And of course, I want to record this and make a video for it. For now, though, I want to share it with the world. A Persian friend translated it for me, so I'm going to include the Farsi as well.
